Using Adsense to increase income
by David Tinney
I've been using Adsense for a couple years now to increase my 'passive' income.
NO! I'm not going to make some idiotic claim of thousands of dollars per month while I sit in my underwear at the computer. I know some are making claims as such, but I don't believe it.
I make enough each month to make my car payment. Wanna find out how I do that? Here it is in a nutshell.
I create informational pages and place Adsense code on them. People come to my pages, read the information and some of them click on the Google Adsense ads strategically placed on the page for further information. Sounds simple, right?
It is in theory but you have to attract the traffic and the content of your page needs to be real.
Have you come across sites that are full of ads and the content makes no freaking sense at all? The sentences are a jumble of words with 'keywords' stuffed in to attract the ad and you're saying, "what tha h*ll"?
Well, those kind of sites are being banned by the search engines and falling from search engine rankings like mad. Good. Good ridinance.
It takes longer, much longer, to create a page with meaningful content but it's worth it. It stays in the search engine because it has some value.
Take a look at this site: barbecue sauce recipe, its been in Google's search engine for more than 2 years and ranks in the top 10 under several search terms. It's also listed in Yahoo! and MSN as well with equal results.
How long did it take me to build it? Initially, an entire weekend, say 20 hours. And I still add and delete information in it as needed. But it's been worth it. During outdoor grilling season, roughly April thru September, this site attracts thousands of visitors a month. Many of them click on the Adsense ads located on the site, generating income for me.
I also sell books that are related to BBQ from the site as well, increasing the income off the site.
Adsense will produce an additional income stream for you but you have to be wise and know how to do it.
